Friends in Christ,

Due to the national and state emergencies from the Coronavirus pandemic, Immanuel will not be holding live worship services or in-person gatherings through the end of March. At the end of March, we will reevaluate. We hope to resume normal operations as soon as we can safely do so. This is a decision that was made after prayerful deliberation by members of our Church Council and Coronavirus task force in an effort to do our part to help keep everyone healthy.

What does this mean?

  • There will be no live Sunday morning or Wednesday Lenten worship services
  • All meetings, Christian education, Lenten meals, Choir practice, Youth Group etc. are cancelled
  • The funeral that had been scheduled for March 20 has been postponed and will be rescheduled for a later date
  • Staff will be working primarily from home
  • The best way to call the church is by calling Pastor Marla’s cell phone 651-315-3354
  • You can also reach Pastor Marla by email at or reach Amy Stender at her new church email

During this time of physical separation, we will be using other ways to connect with one another, through the phone, online, and by mail. Our website and Facebook page will be good sources of information. Check out recent sermons on our website. We welcome your input and suggestions of ways to be the Body of Christ together during this time. Please fill out our survey to share your ideas.

Please check on friends and neighbors, especially those who are most vulnerable. If you or someone you know needs to stay home but is in need of groceries, medicine, or other supplies, let us know and we will help as we can. If you are available to respond as needs are identified, please let me know. We are working on creating a response team that will respond to needs of congregation members and friends as they arise.

Immanuel’s financial commitments will continue. As you are able, we ask you to continue contributing your offering on a regular basis. You can mail a check to the church. The mail will be picked up regularly and processed. Or, this might be just the time to contribute through our website. You can give your offering using a credit or debit card. You can designate how you want that offering used and whether you want to make a one-time or ongoing contribution. All online offerings will be recorded as part of your regular giving.

Please contact Pastor Marla if you have questions, suggestions or pastoral care needs. We will be actively working on developing ways to continue supporting for your spiritual health during this national health emergency and we will be in touch as those take shape.

The sacrifice that our congregation is making by cancelling all of these activities is intended to help all of us avoid contracting this illness. Please stay home and keep yourself from being exposed to this virus, for your own sake and for the sake of everyone in our community.

Lent is a time for spiritual reflection. We have been given a gift of time. I encourage you to use the gift of time, as many of the regularly scheduled activities are cancelled, to slow down. Rest. Enjoy some sabbath. Attend to your relationship with God. Pray. Read the Bible. Spend time with your family. Talk with one another about things that really matter.

May God who cares for all the needs of his people, bless you and keep you in health and wholeness!

In Christ’s service,

Pastor Marla
